1. What is the final word on studio windows? Use different thickness panes and forget about the angle? Or do both?

2. My future studio has two walls that are brick to the height of approximately 2 feet, with a stud wall sitting on top of it. Should I simply put a furring strip on the brick part, or should I lay down a new wall plate and stud the wall floor to ceiling? The downside of method number two is that I will lose floor space, but will gain soundproofing.

Any advice is appreciated.

I just had the same delema...I set up a whole new wall. You gain two things, one...duh, double wall for sound proffing, two is I learned that you should never trust that the outside wall or foundation is straight...by putting up a new "inside" wall you can make sure that your 4 walls are true ans square!
Yah your lossing floor space, but if you can't afford 4 inches, your gonna have space problems no matter what.

Good luck!

Why not add another layer of drywall that goes down to the floor. Then put in a double pane window on the one frame. Different glass thickness is the main point to follow.

cheers
