Two Computer Keyboards

Any simple cheap way to have two computer keyboards hooked to a single CPU? (one by desk, one by recording area?)

Try 2 USB keyboards.
Not sure if the OS will appreciate it, two keyboards. You may get some conflicts but frankly I really don't know.

this or any other reverse kvm switch should work

this is specifically nice because it has an autoswitching feature, so i would guess whatever mouse/keyboard/monitor combination you touch it starts working. If you have, or wanna buy, an extra small monitor this would be even better, but it should work without one too.

christiaan has the right idea. Right now, as I'm typing on my PS/2 keyboard, I have a USB keyboard sitting a few feet away. No conflicts, no problems. Actually, the USB keyboard isn't even a USB keyboard. It's a PS/2 running though a PS/2 to USB adapter. I'm running Win2K, so I don't know if it works the same way on a Mac though.
 
I'm doing the same thing - one USB mini with a touchpad for my music work, one fullsize PCI keyboard and a PCI mouse out of the way for when I have to do heavy lifting (God forbid my 20 page term paper would've had to be done on the mini!).

Not a problem yet - only set up this way since Saturday, though...

Thx, I'll be looking forward to hearing from you. I'm still trying to decide between 3 Q10's,3 Motu 896's or 2 Motu HD192's. Yes I need a lot of inputs! :)
 
Is Wireless an option?

I got a Microsoft Wireless Desktop (Mouse & Keyboard). Logitec also have one too. They retail for about $200 AUD. I just take the keyboard or mouse where ever I want to go... mind you the range is about 12 feet, however, I think they transmit just a little bit more than that faintly... My Dad's computer upstairs sometimes get's responses from my mouse downstairs.... close to 21 feet....

I agree. I've been using a Logitech keyboard and mouse for years. They work with RF instead of infrared so clear line of sight is not a requirement. I was able to have a PC in a bedroom while still using the keyboard in the living room of a 1 bedroom, 750 sq. ft apartment.
