Twintrak vs RNP vs ... what ... neve ?

Here is my dillema:
- I do record for my project:
> bass DI
> vocal (condenser - SP B1)
> guitars - bu micing the cab (sm57, e609, SPB1)
So my thought would be to get nice 2 chanell preamp that I can track guitars with two microphones at same time (to give it a flavour of both).
Within pricerange I set (500-600$) I narrowed it down to Focusrite Twintrack Pro and RNP (I would plug it to my Waveterminal 192X soundcard).
I'm recording modern metal music (drums taken care of separetely).

So - which one to go ? Focusrite or RNP ?

or maybe, since guitars are my main focus, I should drop two chanell idea, save some money and get something that will really give nice colour to my takes - like Great River 1NV and just record twice as many takes as I would do with two chanell preamp) ???

Hey Q how are you!

A Grace 101 is a great choice for a 1 channel pre.

And a Great River is an even better choice.

As you will find out it is all a matter of tast.

I have a RNP and like it.

good luck on your selection and have fun!
