Twilight Rain

this is a song i wrote some years ago, that i revised for my last album.

it's a somewhat autobiographical tune..
it blends acoustic and electric guitars, with harmony vocals and bass guitar, but no percussion of any kind.

i used every guitar i have on this one (Williams strat-paul hybrid, carvin dc200k, usacg strat, ibanez artist, taylor 414 and seagull artist mosiac)

a soft ballad, that is a bit trippy......

Sounds great! I personally like your guitar sound... sounds very bright and clear to me! :)

cheers

Sweet piece of work there man! Reminiscent of Crosby Stills Nash and Young, at least in the vocal department. Love the guitar work, very impressive composition. Its gotta be a hit!!

Cool tune, has a vintagey vibe. Your stuff usually feels "completed".... you're not in here with a half-finished mix looking for feedback like many in here (not that I would have any)...and often it's something you've already self-released so it's obvious you're cool with it.

How did you get the rain/wind chimes? Did you do it yourself? I've taken a crack at recording outdoor sounds but they never seem to come out the way I expect or want them too....and keeping the wind out of the mic is a pain.

ah csny, it's hard to get away from those comparisons anytime you've got 3 part harmonys and acoustic/electric blends....
that's cool, i love those old recordings....thansk for listening

appreciate the listen...

yes, vintagey is definitely a touchstone here....

the rain and wind chimes were straight up recordings.
i used my patio wind chime, brough it into the studio, and very carefully moved it to approximate wind.
no bleed issues there.

the rain, i stuck a mic out the backdoor in the middle of a storm, and capture the rain...
no wind, so it was an easy capture. hard into the compressor, that jacked the levels up a bit to bring out the treble end of the rain hitting the ground....

the thunder, is a stock sample i mixed in.

Damn thats good on the ears....

I bought it...

i used the Williams Hybrid, for the majority of the rhythm work, and the middle solo
