Man I saw someone do this before.
Can you get a video card that will support
a connection to a tv?

Sure- they're pretty cheap. But the resolution of an ordinary TV is pretty low
compared to even a typical SVGA monitor.
But Hey, it worked with the Commodore 64.

hey thanks man, do you know how it would hook up? My cards pretty crapy I suppose ill need a new one.

I believe that television resolution is 640x480...so using your TV as a monitor will only provide a LARGER image of what you're already seeing. You won't necessarily be able to fit more on to your 21" television than on your 14" monitor. Might be easier to see though.

Slackmaster 2000

Slack is right about most TVs, but there are some newer models (not the HDTV stuff) that can handle 800 lines of resolution, and therefore can take 800x600 from a computer. I have a Voodoo3 with TV out and hook it up to the TV for some stuff, but the text is almost unreadable even at 800x600, and useless for anything but watching movies and playing some games. I would suggest getting a nicer monitor instead, 17" and 19" models aren't that expensive anymore. You would be better off, and your eyes would thank you for sure.

If you want TV out, check out the ATI card mentioned and the Voodoo3 3500. If you don't need the high end 3D acceleration then I have seen older cards still available that have TV out functionality, such as the Diamond Viper 4mb card, for about half the price of the newer stuff.

Don't bother with the ATI card or other cards like it. The *standard* retail dual-head Matrox G-400 graphics adaptor can do things that other AGP cards simply cannot do, like simultaneously support 2 different computer monitors (with 2 *different* screens of data) at *high* resolution or 1 computer monitor and a television monitor.

You simply drag windows between displays on one GIANT virtual desktop that can be 2048 pixels wide (or less), or you can have "clone" desktops on 2 displays -- like a computer monitor and a TV. A Matrox dual-head 32MB G-400 sells for around US$189 or less at places like CDW. Dual-head means ONE graphics card with TWO display ports. There are also "non-dual-head" (meaning one display port) Matrox G-400 cards out there with 16MB of RAM, but these are only sold by OEM computer assemblers. You want the "retail" "dual-head" G-400 with 32MB of RAM. Also, Matrox has the most stable video drivers on the market.

Need a high-end digital audio workstation display system? Consider a PAIR of the visually top-notch Mitsubishi DP2040 *flat* *FLAT* 21-inch DiamondTron monitors... http://www.mitsubishi-display.com/products/dp2040uNF.html
These go for a little over US$1000 each.

...and a Matrox G-400 (G-450 available soon) 32MB dual-head AGP graphics adaptors to feed them both simultaneoulsy at high true-colour resolutions. http://www.matrox.com/mga/press_room/tech_infos/media/pdf/g400_brochure.pdf
Under US$200.
