"tubesound" plug-in

let's say I have this mic-pre which is quite hi-fi (I guess at least) so there's no coloration to the sound going thru, and then there's my low-end condenser mic - of course there ain't no tubes either...

so where's the plug-in that puts a "tube" into my chain?


... and I don't need another crappy distortion-plugin...

What software are you using?

If your mic is that crappy you might want to start with that before blowing $100+ on a plugin.

By plugin I assume you are talking about software plugins for recording software, right?

Antares Microphone Modeler will do that. Most other "tube" plugins are really distortion plugins, so be wary.

charger: i had the demo-version of mic-modeler - but I guess my "source mic" was not the best choice so the results weren't that good. removed the program. now that I have a better mic the program's expired... and I don't think I'll spend a lot of money to have that tiny improvement in my vocal-recordings (being a student I'm mr. low-budget).
I hoped to find something like only that saturation-thingie of the mic-modeler.

steinberg's magneto is great too, but it crashes all the time on my machine.

You must have misread me, I didn't say "crappy distortion plug" anywhere in my post.

I'm sure your plugin is the greatest thing since the 12AX7, but since you didn't even say whether it was good or you liked it or how you use it, we'll never know.

I second the vintage warmer. I can be used as a compressor/limiter too. Make those lifeless tracks come to life.

It makes the track sound spicy, big , and clear all at the same time. Very pleasing to the ears

Charger. Im just saying that you warned about Tube plugins as they are "most of them are just distortion plugs" as you wrote and I wanted to know what you meant by that.
It sounded that you knew they were degrading the sound in a bad way.
The warmtone is actually ok, and I use it to smooth out the digital harshness either in induvidual tracks or at the mastering stage if needed.
Sorry for the misunderstanding...
