tube amp noise

just a quick question:

i play a peavey ultragain plus (turned up to 11)(ie. full gain/max distortion)

anyway.. i think ive been noticing an increasing noise (like static)
mainly when the guitar is silenced

would you think this is my tubes fading ( i have been gigging it for over a year)

would it most likely be the pre tubes or power tubes?

any help appreciated..

I don't know wheather my amp was messed up (is now gettting repaired) but when I had mine it'd make a kind of static noise. I was told that things with tubes in them (ie. old tube radios) had a small hiss to them. and with that thing turned up to 11 I would expect some hiss.

But that's only one persons opinion.

If it is a tube amp,... and you have not re-tubed it,.... (power tubes)

and you gig every week,... then you should maybe look at some new matched power tubes,....

and while yer at it,... you should have it biased as well,... and since you like it runnin full tilt all out then bias it a bit hot,..... more sound,.. but not for as long,... burns up the tubes quicker,.....

I am not familiar enough with that brand,... peavey did/does some different stuff with their amps,.... so,...

noise,... might be lots of stuff,... I'd take it to a tech,.... and have it checked out,.... if you are gigging a lot, spend the money on maintenence,... it only makes sense, kinda like changing the oil in your car,... or havin it tuned up,...
