My aiwa am-f5 minidisc broke and i am very angry! i paid a decent price for it but it broke! I want to get a replacement from the company but i don't know how to do it because i threw away the receipt and the manual... all i have is the phone number to the company. Some of you out there my say.. oh just buy a new one... but i'm on a student's budget and recieving only 20 dollars a week the minidisc is no small purchase. So, if anyone out there has had their minidisc exchanged for a working one from the company please post the details (how you did it, who you called, mailed, e-mailed.. etc.) THANKS FOR YOUR TIME

Well... you're probably SOL..

...some stores will other an exchange/return period within which time you can get your money back or exchange/replace a unit that is defective or you simply do not like.

After that time, any defects are handled by the manufacturers warranty which usually means the store will have the unit repaired by the manufacturer at no cost to you (unless the damage occurred intentionally).

In BOTH these cases a receipt is required as proof of purchase. In some cases, you may be lucky if the store has a copy of the receipt for you, but there is no incentive for them to accept an exchange, if it's under warranty, they'll have the repairs done.

NO tickee, NO candy...

BTW - who the hell throws away receipts for electronic gear????????? These items can go wrong in a second and your receipt is your proof of be able to get warranty service!!!
WTF!!!!!! ;)

And why the hell would you throw away the manual too????

I actually don't know what happened to the manual and the receipt cuz i got it three years ago.. =(

Well... you are definitely SOL..... 3 years after purchase and the thing breaks - there's no way you're going to get an exchange........... even OJ's lawyer couldn't do that for you!

Save you pennies to either get it repaired or buy a new one!

bleh.. how about all of you forum subscribers give me a dollar each... =)

c'mon.. i know you guys have 1 dollar... support the give money to bryan cuz he's a poor student fund...

Nope... can't do it...

...I don't have ANY money at all!

Minidisc return??

I've been in music retail for over 20 yrs. and you are without a doubt out of luck
as far as being covered under warranty. Your best bet is to repair or replace it.
Maybe a friend of yours does repair work or you can barter with something
you have or can do for that person.....................

Do you know how much it would cost for a repair? i'm only willing to spend 40 dollars on it, if i spend more i might as well buy a new one...
