Does anyone have a bead on where I can price a RNP besides mercenary.com? I'm not having a problem finding pricing on a RNC, but the same people aren't carrying the RNP in conjuction with the RNC (go figure).
Also, if someone could clarify things with the RNC I would appreciate it. Can that device run two independent channels of compression (two different signals). I've heard some confusing comments on this point.

thanks in advance- David

You mean, can the RNC be run in dual mono mode? The answer is no. It can be used as a stereo compressor or as a single mono compressor, but not dual mono.

I might let go of one of my RNP for $400 soon as I am on an API or Great River NV preamp quest....
Might get an old school audio box and a pre, and add one later... havent decided yet. Probably be the NV though.

thanks guys. I just can't understand why places would carry the RNC and not the RNP and why none of the "local" stores have ever even heard of FMR. Just wanted to clarify that I've nothing at all (actually no experience with) mercenary.com . I just like to shop around for the best prices on products and know that I'm getting a good deal. Also thanks for the clarification on the RNC. I've heard a lot of people say great things about it, but are there any other dual (mono) compressors one can recommend within the $400 and under range that would touch two RNCs?

thanks again- David

FMR is a very small shop. They can't make these things fast enough to support an extensive dealer network. I think the RNC's are more readily available because they've been around longer.

None that I'm aware of.

David:

FMR makes two incredible products that are very reasonably priced. They've chosen a business model that does not include an extensive number of dealers. The RNP was not available at all FMR dealers b/c it was a new product w/o enough of them to go around to all dealers. Apparently, the RNP can be bought at more dealers now.

I wonder if this is the first time Fletcher has ever been recommended to himself?!?

Actually, it is... however, the original poster [antofants] was asking who else besides us was selling the things... Jake had already been mentioned, so I added you as an alternative as well.

T'ain't nothin' but a thang...

Thank you Fletcher, that was very nice of you. I thought it was kind of funny that a poster who apparently didn't realize it was you specifically that recommended Jake and us, that he wanted to point out in response to you, that you should go to shop at Mercenary. Silly stuff...

which one of you knows the deal about the 220V RNP?

There was a rumour that FMR can't find a suitable 220V power supply for it. What's the real deal here?

I have a 220V RNC and would like to get the RNP in the near future. (I have a bro in US)

I wonder why is it so hard for FMR to get the right power source since RNP is claimed to have a flexible power input.

You might try fullcompass.com I would just go there and get the phone number unless youhave a very fast connection.
You need to call for pricing anyway.

I know they do the RNC, I haven't recieved the latest catalog yet though to see if the RNP is in it.

Oh hell let me grab...... my ........ catalog.....

They have found a 'suitable' PSU unit for it... the problem is that they're like $40/ea. The problem is that there aren't 'capital reserves' to pony up for 1000 of the 220v PSU's and still build RNP's... so they're building RNP's... and if the requisite capital reserves are achieved, then the investment in 220v PSU's will also be accomplished.

Unfortunately, small manufacturers like FMR have to make these kinds of decisions... but 'mass manufacturers' [like Mackie or Behringer] couldn't come up with product this cool if their life depended on it.

I guess it all leads back to one of my favorite David Bromberg songs... "you've gotta suffer if you wanna sing da blues".

Gasp, speaking of FMR dealers, I saw one at Sam Ash the other night... the coolness rating has just dropped by about 25%. I will still buy one anyway, just not there.

So, in plain English I have to wait a little longer. ;) That's fine, cos I need to build up MY "reserve capital" as well ;)

For the rest of you guys, start buying those RNPs so FMR has money for my power supply!!!!:D ;)
