That is a seriously decent tune on that there Kalamazoo man.......

needs bottom though.........

another guit track or a bass track....

and you sound too young to sing the blues man.........

I am sure your misery will improve with time :D

The harp is a nice little touch...it's where the vox should be though...and vice versa......

Maybe a little slower would be cool... :D

j/k :D

joro: You are right on that Kalamazoo tone, and the strings are on it are at least a year old. I traded a piece of junk Peavy amp of some sort for it.
If you want to hear more bottom, try my Alpine Hall album. It is with my band. Thanks for the too young compliment! I am pushing a 1/2 century, and I hope to live another 50. Take care Walter

What I did listening this time was picture myself sitting there across from you listening to you play this tune live, and that solved my prior issues with timing and such as I 'get' what it is you're looking to get done... and remember hanging with a blues player much like yourself who had horrible technical ability but so much 'soul' you'd come away with a little of it on you :D

Good playing, maybe the guitar could use a slight bit more bass, but for a live recording this is damn sweet. Harmonica adds a very nice dimension to the song, and ironically myself and Lew (an old school blues player I record with nowadays) were working on a blues piece today that would have one of those harmonica talk-back parts with the guitar... never got to recording it... but the key was to give the song some depth and 'authenticity' using the harmonica, the epiphany of the blues style and image...

Nice work (again), except this time I actually enjoyed it on the level I think you intend for it to be enjoyed.

I don't think you need to be a certain age to know the blues, I'm 28 and wouldn't wish some of the stuff I've experienced on anyone... and I know when I play the blues, I PLAY the BLUES. ;)

Pinky: Thanks for giving me another listen. I am enjoying the heck out of this MD recorder. I had Lightning Hopkins on my mind when I did this one. Walter

Walter

This is really good stuff. I don't know what room you are using in your house, but have you tried the bathroom? The close space with your technique might give you another dimension. This sounds great but I would try all the rooms to see what happens. You never know

Where are the mics clipped on your hat--in the center or the sides?

If they are center(the way it sounds) try moving them over your ears to create a little more separation. It's called a binaural setup and has been used very successfully for live recordings.

Keep up the great work.

sloop: Thanks. I am recording in the dinning room. The house was built in the 30's, so there are hardwood floors and the old lath plaster walls. I will try the bathroom. It is tiled and full of porcelean fixtures. I clip the mics just in front of my ears - on a baseball cap. If I put them right over my ears, they hit them. I read about that technique from the core sounds site(where I got my mics). I will keep messing around with locations. I like parking garagaes and stairways in old buildings too. Thanks for the suggestions! Walter

I like the "live" quality this has to it. I think somebody else mentioned this, but it kinda feels like you're right in the same room. Cool loose vibe. I'm not capable of pulling off anything as unstructured as this. I would loose the song completely. I like it.
