Troubled Man

Are you serious? man, it sounds like you are hiding in a closet trying to keep your voice down and i can even hear the pages turning in the background on that first joint. I don't want to come down hard on you but i have to, trust me you'll think me later. do me a favor and put in canibus, madlib, or raskass...then listen to your song. now do you feel me? when you do it do it like your doing it for tv (i stole that from ma$e). you have to step that up dog, don't compete with those dudes in your neighborhood! compete with Pharoah Monch, Mos Def, Black Thought..... Polish your sound, tighten up your delivery and breath control.

Now for the praise. you are spitting some dope ish. i'm feeling your content. you have a lot of substance, wait a minute that can make a tight name for a cd SUBSTANCE ABUSE. that's free for who ever wants to use it. back to the matter at hand, start recording somewhere that will benifit your development, you are going to sound like a totally different person when you start projecting your voice and that's the person you want to hear. find a time of day where you can record like you are performing it or find a cheap recording studio with someone trying to learn how to engineer. you will be able to help each other out.

I agree with Jug. The lyrics are good, but you're sounding monotone on that and yeah I heard the pages flip and the breaths that you had to take while you were rapping. Were you trying not to wake someone up? I think once you really get the equipment you need and learn how to use it, you can make some ill shit.

Thanks for the Feedbk Jug,and Fieva. Actually your right I need a better place to Practice. Some Of the Honest Feedbk I ever got really Appreciate it Man.

no prob, looking forward to hearing some more stuff from you.

You were right man. This is some of feedbk I'm getting, but in Harsher words lol.

your joking right? man you paused and turned a page, off beat, sounds like your whispering, some ryhmes are tight but your trying to do the metaphor thing way to hard!

It's cool though I like cat's like you other than this cat that actually say it then tell you how to fix it. That's the diff. from good feedbk and bad I.M.O.

I can give you that feedback because I've been there and I know how it is. So do you live in an apartment or with your folks? I know when I was living with mine, I wouldn't DARE record any music in there, especially vocals with all the cussing I do. But now that I got my own place and a room dedicated for my studio that's all good.

If you need any advice on helping step your game up to the level that it should be, you came to the right place. Trust.

Yeah man I stay with My parents man. Plus I don't want my neighbors thinking I'm some kind of Nut. I need to get my own plce or rent a storage or something man. If I could get loud and redo my shit over and over that way It could sound better so I'm just doing what I can right now with the way I have it.

Yeah, that is all good advice. I heard alot of the same things, but I do like what you had to say. I wasn't to focused on the mixing/production phase of it. I don't really comment on that aspect of the game unless one request that you peep their mix. You have a real ill Spoken Word flow! I know some people crossover from Spoken Word to MC and vice versa (and some bounce back and forth between the two)....But keep doing your thing you can only get better! I like the preliminary though, keep in touch!

If you live anywhere near me (central Wisconsin), I'll record ya. I like your content and style, but it's hard to hear you with all the distractions that others mentioned.

for what it's worth. i live in an apartment also and i know how hard it can be. a good idea would be to talk to your neighbors and tell them that you record rap music in your apartment and that if at any time they feel they are being disturbed to just give you a courtesy call and you'll tone it down or if that's not good enough you'll stop recording. ask what would be the best time for you to start back recording during that particular day because maybe they are taking a nap and just want you to quit until they wake up. just try to be as understanding and polite as possible then they should get comfortable with what you are doing. it sucks but in a situation like that you have to do what you have to do.

also i would like to add that i'm definitely trying to step my game up also so you are not alone. i'm just providing what little i've learned since i've been honing my skills.

I know I've been in the parent's house situation. It sucks. But it's only temporary. I used to rap songs like that (trying not to wake folks up) and then redid them later when I had better equipment to record with and better knowledge of how to do it. I'm trying to step my game up too. I might have my own house, but my studio room is in between our bedroom and the woman's kid's room. The one thing I won't do is wake them up so I usually do vocal work when they're gone. I can do beats anytime because I'm on the headphones.

I feel you on that. All my good tracks I've had been when they leave. I jump on the shit real quick, but lately I haven't. I like doing my shit at night, and I really gotta be in the mood to redo my shit over , and over. Also I quit for awhile, and took a break from writing bc I was doing the shit every fuckin day, and couldn't think of shit to write about anymore. I was gettin pretty good there 4 awhile, and hopefully i can get bk to where I was. I see you cats are making a compilation cd good luck with that pce.

dam - i thought dudes was exagerratin . . till i heard that paper !!! - but the lyrics is on real shit -- its on some real shit!!!! SCREAM THEM LYRICS MAAPHUCKA SCREAM EM!!!

I agree with what's been said. I've definitely been in that living/recording situation. I remember whispering into a computer mic at 2 am tryin' not to wake my parents up.

But you do have talent. It's obvious even with all the faults of the quality and such. Just keep writing and work on finding a better place to express yourself and you'll be good...

Yeh I also live in a very small apartment with a neighbor on each side as well as neighbors below me. Although I dont do much vocals, It is hard a lot of time to produce my beats and shit because half the time when I got a got some good shit goin I have to use my headphones until the next day where i can use my monitors. I feal your pain!

Where you at In Wis. I'll fly over there I'm In dallas. I'm getting sick of this shit I'm never gonna be able to do nothing here. Lemme know where, and how long and I'll arrange somehow for me to get round tickets and money for a hotel. What kind Of soundcard are you working on? I got beats for days man. hit me up man pce
