Maybe someone can help me out here. Recently, my g/f's PC had been acting pretty goofy, so I got in there and started checking out, piece by piece. I narrowed it down to the harddrive, or so I thought. I tried to just reformat the HD and install windows, after the fresh install, on reboot it would freeze on the loading screen. The HD was still under warranty, so I got ahold of Western Digital and they sent me a new one (have to send the old back within 30 days or they charge me) So I get the new drive, install windows, same damn thing. So needless to say the old HD is probably fine, but in the process I've switched to a few pieces that I had planned on upgrading one of my PCs with, so everything in her PC is brand new, minus the video card (which obviously works because I can get into the bios, install, etc), out of the box. Mobo, CPU, Ram, now brand new harddrive.
I've tried damn near everything I can think of to troubleshoot it, the only thing I can think of at present that I haven't tried is setting the HD to Master. I've always kept my HDs on Cable Select because tinkering with the jumpers has always been a pita for me, but I'm at a loss on what to do otherwise.
Anyone have any suggestions?
