I have an Iomega Zip 650 burner...

Which uses Direct CD

I am trying to put my songs on one of those little business card CD and it won't let me.... I tried using music match and it doesn't even recognize my burner at all...

Music Match says it is the outdated drivers... Iomega says it isn't.

I am really dumb with all this... and I need HELP

I want to put the little business size HANDI CD in my press kit.

If anyone can help... please let me know.

Working on regular CDs???

Well

From what I can figure out. Regular CDs burn fine using the Easy CD creator software that came with the IOMEGA .... but the Biz CDs won't burn. I think this is because I only have the 3.5 version and need to buy the 4.0

If I dont' have to buy anything I would rather not of course...

Using the Music Match Jukebox... my thirteen year old son made a Biz size CD with it once on the Iomega... and then we upgraded the Music Match and all it says when we try to burn anything now is

We have to have a recorder in order to make the CD...

Which I took as not having an updated driver from Iomega that it would recognize...

I am SO confused... Hope I am not confusing you too.

Music Match acts like nothing is hooked up at all.

We used to like Music Match for everything.

Does this help?

I sure do appreciate the reply....

Thanks

Direct CD is for using your CD-R like a write-once hard drive, not really for what your doing now.

According to:

http://www.roxio.com/en/support/discs/disccompat.html

Your version of EZ-CD should not be the problem. So this brings a few questions. What error message does EZ-CD give you when you try to burn the data? If you are burning an Audio disk, than make sure you are on the Audio Template and 'close the session'. If you are putting MP3's on the disk (I assume so, since they only store 45MB of information, or 10 average sized MP3's, and maybe 1 song in CDA format) then you should be using the Data Template, same thing 'close session'.

Easy CD creator

I thought I read at Roxio that 4.0 could do the little CDs but I didn't ever find my 3.5...

I sometimes get a whole list of errors... I only get a couple trying to burn from a CD image...

It takes forever just like it is working...

Then it give me error T7303 Track Writer Error
undifined or invalid parameter

and T7728 Track Writer Warning Operation continues

The first error says restart computer and reinstall easy CD creator which I have...

and the other error has not been heard of and I am suppose to contact my vendor for an updated help file.

......

This is why I thought Music Match may be easier... since my son did make one once before we upgraded it.

URGH.

appreciate you trying to help like this.

Well, in the meantime then, uninstall Musicmatch and install the previous version.

BTW the second error message "and T7728 Track Writer warning Operation". From what I read in the help files, this indicates it can't provide enough memory for the buffer. So, close programs running in the background.

Try this if you haven't already:

Hit CTRL-ALT-DELETE
Highlight and End Task everything but Explorer and Systray

Launch Adaptec EZ-CD and try it again.

Also, disable Virus Scan software (better yet, uninstall it permanently), turn of screen savers.

Here Goes No Ting.

I am so computer dumb... first off... I am a MAC person trying to use this PC... and I have never seen so many frozen screens as I have with this explorer... so when you said memory... BINGO that makes since. I would love for someone to tell me how to get rid of all that we don't need on here and then increase the memory for the explorer program... if it is like a Mac anyway...

This is my son's computer and he downloads so much junk... doesn't he need the virus software? I don't have the virus problem so much with the MAC.

And I am not sure I know how to get back the "previous" version of MusicMatch... If I could, that would cure my problem of it's error warning.

"In order to create a CD you must have a CDR drive."

Thanks...

I will try all you told me to do for using the EZ and get back...

Well the best way would be to format the machine, clean and start over. But that's pretty involved and you would want someone else to do it since you state your not familiar with PC's.

But, you can remove a lot of the programs you don't need by going to:

Start>Settings>Control Panal>Add Remove Programs

Highlight the program you don't want, and click Remove.

Also if you go to Start>Run and type in msconfig and hit enter. I'm assuming your running windows 98.

Go to the Startup Tab along the top. Remove the checkmark from any programs you don't want to load at startup.

Your safe (usually) removing the checkmark from almost everything. But I'd leave systray and Load Power Profile and maybe Scan Registry

You could try removing them one by one and rebooting inbetween to be on the safe side.

One other thing 'desktop themes'. If you have a bunch spinning icons, animated backgrounds etc., you may want to disable these. Their pretty, but they eat up a lot of resources. Go to Start>Settings>Control Panal>Desktop Themes and set it to windows default.

I feel like an idiot...

Okay...

I did everything you asked me to. I got rid of a few things too.

My virus software has been removed too.

I still had the exact same errors after waiting forever to burn one little song on that little Handi CD

I went into the system and this is what I found...

the Adaptc AHA1510 SCSI Host is either not installed, not working right, or does not have all drivers.

I removed and reinstalled the Adaptec Software and it is still UNKNOWN

the SCI IRQ used by the ACPI BUS
says it is causing a resource conflict... code 15

But then I go in and it says no conflicts are found.

I will now do the little check mark thing you told me about...

be back...

You are just TOO COOL to be helping me like this...

L

Hang on a second here. The checkmark thing I doubt will help at this point. You mentioned you could still record full size CD's. Is this still so? Can you read disks off of the drive?

Is the this ZIP 650 an internal drive, external parallel drive (plugs into your printer port) or is it USB? Or does it plug into a SCSI connector on the back of your computer. The SCSI (the Adaptc AHA1510 SCSI Host ) may be for your scanner if you have one, or it may be for the zip 650....

Ain't computers fun? :)

Let me know if it works out.

Now that I feel really clean....LOL

The 650Zip is external and it is USB.

I have a canon printer hooked to the printer port. <smile>

OK, USB cool. May as well go to device manager and remove the AHA-1510 (I'm assuming you don't have this card in your machine, or that it's not built onto your motherboard, either way won't be a disaster). Right Click 'My computer' select properties, go to Device Manager, highlight the conflicting AHA-1510 and select remove. Reboot. I doubt this is the problem.

Can you still burn 650MB CD-R's and can you read CD's on the drive? If you double click my computer is their a CD drive letter listed there?

Have you looked at all the info on here?

http://www.iomega.com/support/cdu.html

One other thing Adaptec EZ-CD sometimes ships with a Floppy disk for updating the version that's on the CD. If you uninstalled it and reinstalled you will want to bring it back up to the latest version possible. If you don't have the update disk, you can download (painfully slow) the latest update (for your version) from Roxio's webpage.

The updates are usually added support for different brands of CD-RW's.

Kerflopp kerplunck...

EEKKK...

Okay....

What are IRQ holders? Should I have three of them?
two with a number 3 in front and one with an 11 ???

I will go ahead and do what you told me now...

and yest I did go to the support files and they have tried to help me... but keep saying I need to do a re-install of clean... and I really hate to do that if I don't have to...

So....

Here we go... I will remove that thing you told me and try to see if the drive works at all anymore...LOL

See what happens..

You still haven't answered this though...

Can you still burn 650MB CD-R's and can you read CD's on the drive? If you double click my computer is their a CD drive letter listed there?

Fairly critical info to try and solve this....:)

Yup...

Yes it is listed on the computer as drive D

Yes I found an update (I didn't know was there before I painfully downloaded possibly the wrong one before)

Yes I reinstalled and added that update

Yes I can burn regular CDs on it... or at least I could. LOL

I have never tried to read one from there... I will try that.

Guess I should have named this Thread something esle...

Okay...

The drive shows data on it and my Windows player comes up and says it is playing it...

But no volume?

...and I checked to make sure it wasn't muted.

Wrong Parameter?

Okay...

I checked all the sound controls... then switched to another CD and it says the Windows Player is having a problem... then it said wrong parameter...

It is spinning and quits when it is finished... I just don't hear anything.

Interupt Request 09 appears as the resource under the
SCI IRQ used by ACPI Bus...

Does that have anything to do with what I am doing???? Can't help but notice those little exclaimation points!!

(:-p)

After you removed that SCSI controller from Device Manager and rebooted, did it detect it again and reinstall? I suspect these conflicts have always been there, unless you know otherwise.

If it's external it won't be connected to your soundcard in anyway. It probably has a headphone input, but anyways... these problems are not related to the burning problem.

Before burning anything, run Adaptec EZ-CD and go to Tools, CD-Recorder Properties... what happens?

No reinstall...

That does not appear at all anymore.

The conflict is also gone on the SCI IRQ whatever the heck that was...

and... I go to the tools and I have a window pop up that says it is using the the Iomega Zip 650 USB.

Now that we got rid of all those little exclamaiton points... I will try again to burn a little CD.

Okay?

It will take awhile...

Same thing...

I get the same errors I started with.

Do I have a driver installed at all now?

In the Hardware istallation I have a choice of six different AHA and one APA to choose from to install if I need to... what are these?

DUH...

I am sorry about this... I mus be ruining your whole day.

What a sweetheart you have been!!!
