For the first time I am trying to creat some basic loops using SF 4.5 and I can't seem to get it to work. I'm following the manual (I think) by using the following steps.

- Click Special on task bar
- select edit
- selecting the time to start / end loop
- selecting sustained - 3 loops
- click OK

The editor shows the looped section within the file but upon playback (regular or looped playback) - it plays the entire file and does not repeat the looped section three times.

What am I doing wrong?? Why is looping in a track seem so hard when I know it has to be easy?? Did I miss a step??

Please help!! (a first time looper before I go loopy....)

thanks!! zip >>

Did you select Play Looped Mode from the Transport sub-menu on the Special menu?

just tried it.....

It still didn't work. :( It will repeat in preview mode but not when I play the entire file.

What else could it be? Is there something I need to do with sampling?? I didn't sample - I just selected what I wanted to loop.

Man this is driving me nuts!!

You mean you want to play an entire file but have it loop somewhere in the middle three times then continue to the end? I don't think Sound Forge will do anything like that. It will loop a selected area over and over, where the selected are cane be up to the entire file lenght -- but I think that's all. It's not a performance tool. You need a digital audio sequencer to do something like that. You can make a copy of the selected region that you want to loop and copy it, then insert two copies after the end of the selected region, pushing the rest of the file to the right... but I think that's all you can do with Sounbd FOrge to get the results you are after...

Unless I just don't get what what you are trying to do...

Highlight the portion of the WAV. file you want to loop.

Press the PLAY LOOPED, not the PLAY button.

COPY the highligthed portion.

Press the NEW button.

PASTE the highlighted portion of music as many times as you like.

I hope that does the trick.

peace...

That's exactly what I need to do! I just didn't state it right. I'll try Spins approach and........
