Hey all, I'm in the market for building an ad hoc e-drum kit and would like to see if you guys know of any good trigger io boxes like the "soon" to be released trigger iO. I don't need fake-o sounds and CSOM this and that - just a trigger to MIDI (or USB) io with variable HH, 10 inputs and low latency to go to my DAW.

I'm just sick of the "maybe next month" treatment we're all getting from Alesis on this otherwise promising product and the Roland offering is weak at best (6 ins, no USB). I know Hart is also working on something, but that seems to be a pipe dream as well.

Is there a preamp or sound card interface I can use for TRS inputs and MIDI/USB to DAW?

Thanks in advance!

Suggestions anyone? Could I use something like a preamp or an Echo AudioFire 12 or something? Has anyone even seen or demoed the Trigger IO to see if it's even worth the wait?

Ebay

you could scoop up a roland td-5 for around 100 bones. that gives you a nice variable hihat and built-in sounds, in addition to its midi-trigger capabilities.
