Trigger Finger Blues... Help.

hi. i've got the m audio trigger finger running through my powerbook G4. i'd like to use it with iDrum, which i recently bought. however, iDrum never recognizes the trigger finger. i know it's plugged in right and whatnot... i mean, garageband recognizes it, as does its editing program, enigma. it angers me. i've had this problem for a while but i've just been too preoccupied to get off my ass and do somethin' about it. so, this is my first step. hopefully i'll get some helpful feedback?

Your midi setup is probably incorrect. Start there

What do you mean midi setup? I mean, I know of the utility you're speakin of but I don't know my way around it too well. What do I configure.. or do...

Troubleshoot

You're going to need to look into the settings of the Trigger finger...
Make sure that it's transmitting on the same MIDI channel that iDrum is receiving on...

You also need to be sure the pads are triggering the right 'notes' to be able to make the iDrum sound off...

I've never really understood how M-Audio works there controllers...
I have the pro88 and ended up writing an environment in LogicPro to make it work...

Don't give up...
One thing you can do to insure that the Trigger is working is to google for a "MIDI Monitor" that works with your computer... Just download this little program, start it up and start tapping on the Trigger...
This will tell you what information is going through the Trigger into the comptuer...

well yeah. i went to my audio midi setup utility and ran a little test and it appeared that the trigger finger was transmitting, i mean, the test worked, when i'd hit the pad the program would acknowledge it. but, when i opened up iDrum it still didn't work. it just confuses me.

it makes no sense.

when i open up iDrum as a plugin in garageband, it acknowledges to trigger finger. but, when i open iDrum as a stand alone application it doesn't.

So when you play through Garage Band iDrum sounds off??
Well that's a good sign at least...
It means your program and the trigger are both functioning...

From here I'm not sure where to take you...
I've never seen iDrum, but there has to be some sort of setup that will tell you what instruments are triggering on what 'MIDI notes'....
Finding that - you could take the trigger and program the pads to sound off on the appropriate notes...
