Hi,

I want to transpose a song I recorded in audio using Pro Tools LE 6.4 but it looks like this software can only transpose midi. Do I need to get some additional software to do this? Thanks.

Cubase SX/Nuendo
Logic
Digital Performer
Sonar
Live
Autotune
Melodyne

Just to name a few.

you can use audiosuite's pitchshift...or any other program that has a pitch shifting plugin.
However, beware that pitch shifting audio files creates more and more audio artificats. It's hard to keep audio in time and pitch shift it. To do so, the programs add stuff that can ruin the sound of the audio.

One of the better pitchshifts I've heard is in MetaSynth....but that is Mac only. But, no, it's not perfect either.

You can preserve a bit of quality if you let the plug shift the tempo a little too.

Thanks for your suggestions. I tried the pitch shift in protools and it's a joke - made me sound like one of the chipmunks! It even ruined the instruments too! I'll just have to learn to sing a bit lower for this particular song. Thanks again.

or just re-record it transposed. That's what vocalists usually do...figure out what you want to sing first, and then get the instruments to play in that key.
