Hi guys. I use a corner of my bedroom as my little recording space, and unfortunately my only computer is out in the main area of the house.
I want to transport files from my tascam dp-01 workstation (which has a small usb connection) to a flash drive, so that I can then transfer them onto my computer in the other room.
Problem is, all the usb cables I see have the proper size male-end for going into the workstation, and then another male end for going into the computer's usb port. I need something w/ a female end so that my folash drive will fit into it.
any ideas?
Do the sell female-to-female adapters somewhere?
Best Buy didn't have a clue today when i asked them.

It does not work that way. You cannot plug the usb drive into that usb port and expect it to work. USB needs a host PC to work and you cannot plug 2 usb devices toghether like that.

then I am going to have to look into some sort of 25' cable to run this thing to my pc.
Dangit it to heck for trying to stay as non-pc as possible.

Am I missing something here? Plug the flash drive into a usb port on the computer It picks it up like another hard drive...I transfer music and all files all the time with a flash drive...

Right, and he is taliking about plugging it into a harddisk recorder, not a computer

ya, thats the whole point. Stick flash drive into workstation, export the files to it, then walk into the other room, stick the flash drive into the computer to retrieve my songs/tracks. Didn't think about the workstation not supporting that type of function. The user manual was kinda vague.
Its nice having a 40g harddrive, especially on such a budget recorder like the dp-01 but it would have been nice to have the option of using flash drives as an alternative (like you are forced to use on units like the fostex mr8).
I guess I will track down someone that sells 25' usb cables and go that route, because since I'm doing drums in DFH2 I have to transfer files TO the workstation, then later transfer finished tracks FROM the recorder back to the computer.

I dont think they make them that long. Maybe 2 cables and a hub between them will work better

Well, I've seen 16'. I'm gonna keep looking, because even 20' might work. I'll break out the measuring tape to make sure before I spend the dough.
