Can anyone recommend a good EQ plugin? I've yet to hear anything digital (plugin-wise) that can offer something beneficial to the sound, so I'm really looking for something transparent.

I will be using it mainly on acoustic guitar.

I'm willing to try all the good free ones before dishing out some $$$. But if I have to, then that's fine.

I don't plan on making major adjustments to the EQ, usually rolling off < 30Hz, and maybe boosting/cutting somewhere in the low-mids (200-500Hz) and also possibly in the high-end. Usually, no more than 2-3db max.

I have the Waves Reverb and I've been thinking maybe they have a good parametric EQ?

Also, I've tried the Kjaerhus Classic series plug-ins (I installed all of them). They seem good but I'm wondering what else is out there that's possibly better (not just free ones).

I've also used the Paris EQ a little.

Kjaerus Audio Golden GEQ. - $98
PSP Audio Master Q. - $150
PSP Audio Neon. This EQ is linear phase, ideal for "transparnt" EQing. - $150

It you want a more clinical type EQ I'd definately go for the Neon.
If you want something that sounds good, and has a bit of flavor. I would go for the Kjaerus Golden or PSP Master Q. All these EQs are worth the price, or you could get an outboard Behringer. :p

That one is actually very good.

One of the best out there, in fact.

.
Speaking of the ParisEQ, does anybody know where to download it??
I used to have it and I miss it.
For what ever reason every link I find is broken. :o

For ac gtr, Reaper's stock ReaFir plug is a great sounding EQ IMO.

Also the Slim Slow Slider linear phase graphic EQ, believe it or not.

Also the EQ function within Voxengo's Soniformer.

A great thing about the Paris EQ, besides that it sounds good, is that it's easy on the CPU when you need EQ on several channels.

But as every ac gtrist knows, the best EQ is mike placement. :p

Yup, that's definitely true.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm going to mess with the Reaper's EQ and also the Paris one for a little while.

Glen - Thanks for the suggestion, that fits right into my budget. I'm gonna download the trial and mess with it.

Do you know where to get the Paris EQ?

I would LOVE to get it.

another vote for that one...I'm assuming he didn't change much on it since from when it was Elemental Audio's
I have the EA version myself. But my understanding is that the only changes RND made to it was to add some Roger Nichols-designed curve presets and change the skin colors. (And now I see that by popular demand, they even offer the original skin as as selectable preference - under the skin name "Elemental Blue" :) ). But the EQ engine itself and the control interface have remained the same AFIK.

Saw it, and Roger, at AES. Very cool EQ.......er, I mean un-EQ.

Ah, but is it still a keeper at the new "improved" price?? :( :(
(would you buy it again?)

If I wouldn't, I wouldn't recommend it. :)

No Bout a doubt it!!!! :p :) :p

Roger's almost back to earth, I know that Elemental's stuff was under priced, however, that said , it was quite a boost to $350, then $250
They need to allow a "choose your own bundle" style quanity buy. $750 with finis tossed in is no discount to me.
