can you track in one software like sonar of ableton live and then transfer to cubase to mix. Band is recording and I have m-audio with ableton live and my drumer has firepods with full version of cubase. would like to be able to track and different time and then bring it altogether to mix since we live in different towns.

I'm pretty sure you wouldn't have any problems as long as you can save each track individually as a .wav file or something similar.

Anybody else? This is something that I'm kind of interested in too... ;)

yeah, as long as each track is saved as a wav file, you can just import them into seperate tracks in cubase

what if I'm using a mac and he is using a pc. Can I save them to my external hard drive and transfer to his computer. Just getting into recording and don't want to get to far into a project and spend to much time with this. thanks for all the replies. This is a great forum.

you should'nt have any problem. do a test run just to make sure.

Just make sure that all of your tracks start at zero so it will be easier to line up the wave files in the other program.

you wont be able to save edits, and hopefully the PC can read the mac.. mac can usually read PC but not always vis-versa... even though its a wave file its still probably encoded a little differently on the Mac HD...

side note: why are they called PC's arent they all PC's ???
