Tracks from tapes to PC

I'm trying to convert my songs in tapes created in my 4 track portastudio to 4 tracks in my PC. Is it possible for me to patch each channel of the mixer in my PortaStudio individually to separate inputs on my soundcard ?

If not what are other options ?

Sure, very possible. Depends on your sound card though. Does it have more than 2 inputs? Does your tape multitracker have seperate outs for each track? If it's yes to both of the above, should be a breeze.

If your soundcard only has 2 inputs, all is not lost. Send out the L/R stereo 2 tracks at a time and sync them up. Could be tricky, but not impossible.

Gee .... why must my sound card have only one input !??!!

The input should be stereo though, so you need some adapter to get it from your multitrack. Probably 2 RCA Mono's to a Stereo 1/8".
