So...my Studio One limiter has a "TP" button. Is this true peak? If so, how is it "more true" than simply setting the threshold and assuming that nothing shall pass? Is it an even greater reinforcement than the threshold parameter?

It's a different system to dB, designed for Broadcasting, look up EBU R128.

TP is more or less adjusting for inter-sample peaks.

The loudness war has gotten so out of hand that now we have to limit our limiters.
