Here is what I have ... an mbox 3 mini ... I purchased a passive DI Box:

(Cheeeeaaaap, I mean, inexpensive): Pyle-Pro PDC21 - ¼'' Instrument To Balanced & Unbalanced (1/4''/XLR) Direct Box

The (according to the manual) balanced line on the DBox out is XLR male ...

The MBox has (and I quote from Digidesign) "one XLR mic/line combo input with a professional-grade mic preamp and 48V phantom power" and "Two 1/4" instrument inputs (one DI, one line-level/DI)"

Question is ... do I purchase a:

XLR Female To 1/4" Male Line Matching Transformer 6" Cord?
or
CBI Ultimate Series Female XLR to 1/4 Inch TRS Cable?
Or something else altogether?

And then plug into which of the 3 inputs?

Thanks for reading this, I appreciate any help,

Steve

Ummm...

I just looked at pics of the 2 items, annnnd I'm pretty sure it's just a regular mic cord that you need.

Female end to the Dbox/ Male end to the Mbox

Hey thanks, I guess I was thinking to keep the XLR port on the MBox free and go into a line in, hope that works, but maybe I should have just done what you said, XLR both ends ... certainly is more straight forward ... good point, thank you for answering -- I need all the help I can get.

Great forum btw, I really appreciate the newbies department. I teach visual software like Photoshop and 3D animation -- it's been awhile since I've faced such an uphill learning curve!
