Total Cubase knucklehead

I have just bought Cubase 5, and have installed MAYA Audiotrak SoundCard.

I'm running Windows ME, operating system and have not been able to hear audio off the soundcard through Cubase.

I have done some previous recordings with cubase and have loaded them in to my system, and I can SEE them, but I can't hear them.

The most frustrating thing is that Windows Media Player and MP3's work fine off the soundcard, but nothing from Cubase.

I have had one breakthrough before finding this website which I hope will be my long sought saviour...I heard a digital click track while trying one of the 7898789 thousand attempts at getting this system right.

hi DM...I don't know much about using soundcards because my set-up is different...but, try this while in cubase--clk on options, clk on audio set-up, clk on ASIO in upper right corner and see exactly what is active...you should see the ASIO driver listed here for your MAYA...if not, this is at least part of the problem...also, assuming that your MAYA is "full-duplex", make sure "full-duplex" is activated in audio sys set-up in cubase...I'm sure someone will come along shortly who can solve your problem if this doesn't work...

See if audio is enabled under Options > Audio Setup in cubase.

Yes follow the steps in the manual for setting up your audio. Also, make sure you have the options for the monitoring set up right. Most people would have Tape Type enabled.

yeah if you're running two seperate sound cards it may not be a problem within Cubase but a matter of getting the proper card on it's own IRQ, guess you've probably already thought of that, but that was my issue for a while

Hope this helps, but may not be your problem(but a good suggestion). After a horrble experience with saving songs and losing many great tracks, I finaly decided to read and learn the proper ways of storage for Cubase. When you create a folder when beginning your recording i suggest buiding your folder in d if you have d or c if you just have one drive. Make that under C: and not in a another folder. and be sure to save all your data in each folder as your record. Create a new folder for everysong. That way all your audio for that song will be sure to load and you will not have to dig through a huge archive of the pool. Man this has made my life just peachy. And always name your tracks in the pool, just incase. Hope it helps. oh yeah i had the same problem about not hearing tracks, and it was cause they got lost in this huge pool and didn't name and locate them correctly. spent about 6 hours finding tracks, but lost a great amount. This was after i reinstalled cubase on my puter. Good luck man, hope someone can help me johnny chandler
