I want to connect my Vox Tonelab desktop model to my PC, so I think I need something to plug in midi and turn into USB?

Someone suggested using something like M-Audio Midisport 1x1, and someone esle said a Midi to Gameport cable will do the exact same job for cheaper.

Could you clear this up for me please?

Thank you

The only reaso for the ToneLab to have a MIDI interface is to control its settings via a MIDI device. MIDI is not a conduit for audio data -- there's no sound there, only control information that MIDI-savvy devices can interpret and respond to.

To connect it to record its audio output, you need to connect to a soundcard's audio inputs -- or, if there's a USB port on it, perhaps it's its own audio interface and sends digitized data via USB. Its specs should tell you that.

Thanks for the reply.

I need to connect it so I can operate the tonelab editor, and the only way it'll work is if I somehow connect the tonelab to the pc.

Would a midi to gameport cable work, if I have that option of my soundcard?
