That's a strat?! Anybody know this guy? Is he pullin' our puds? And I said "creamy". OEM pickups?

I guess the amp is a pignose! :D
 
It IS a Strat, and it is Solid State

He's telling the truth.

Although I was not present during recording, the picture in the video which I dubbed the clip from certainly was a Strat. Mr. Shuz will have to fill you in on the pickups.

The amp is a solid state prototype amp that a mutual friend of ours made. Don't get out your flamethrowers yet, as the amps are not in production at this point. (Maybe within the year...?) Anyhow, he started out trying to emulate tube amps, and believes that he has actually improved on the characteristics that we all like to talk about like "warmth" and "reaction to touch". (Unlike Mr. Shuz), I suck at the guitar, and the stuff I can do with one of these babies suprises me...

If anyone here is in the Baltimore/Washington area, and you're into amps, and amp design, give Eric a call, or even visit. He's as nice as can be, and you'll love playing the amps. He really values musician's input, and often makes significant design changes based on that input.

I believe they are the stock pickups. I had the "under the cover" Joe Bardens in there for awhile, but I recently put the stock ones back in there. The Bardens had more low-mids and highs, the stock models actually have a rounder low end. I'm not sure I'd put the Bardens in yet at that time. I'll have to dig out the video and see if I can see pole-pieces.

I will say this, though. The body and neck on that axe are so resonant that it doesn't matter which pickups are in there, it sounds like that. In fact, the bottom end seems rounder on the OEM's, but there isn't as much midrange as the Bardens. Either way, the difference is fairly subtle. It's a magic Strat, and there are very few like it.

One more thing: the tone changes in the clip came only from the volume knob.
 
That's the "brownest" strat I've ever heard. I originally thought it was an ES-335.

Hey Queue, are there any soundclips available? I tried your first link and got the old "page cannot be displayed," and when I went to the Pritchard site the samples page isn't completed.
 
I predict that some day people will be paying twice the price for solid-state amps that "sound just like real tubes."
 
Someone's going around reviving old threads. This one I count as about 21 months old...
 
HooWEE is this old! I was cleaning out my Inbox, and actually thought this was a different reminder.

Eric is now in production. There are supposed to be clips soon, and I may be a presenter, if you will. We shall see. He would do well to get clips up there.

He makes real quality stuff, and it's even more versatile than the clips in this thread (which are probably not posted anywhere anymore).
