Tone Control=volume control?

I am recycling some wiring for my Kramer. I never use tone controls, so I'd like to bypass it. This one is also a coil splitter push/pull, so I thought it'd be cool to keep it. Can I just remove the volume control (which is between the 5-way switch and output jack, and then remove the capacitor from the tone control, soldering that lug directly to ground? Will that make the tone control into a volume control?

BTW, this is a strat kind of thing. Master tone, master volume, 5-way switch and output jack. The volume pot doesn't fit in the cavity with the aftermarket pickguard. If I just turn the tone into the volume and by pass the present volume, it would be very easy to button this thing up.

i think taking out the tone pot is going to change the load on the pickups, which might sound better or worse. Tone pots and volume pots are the same thing as long as the value is the same.

it's not.

(nhf travis?)

with the tone control wide open, depending on the pot value, there would be a 250k or 500k resistance to ground wouldn't there? what's nhf?
