I started mixing a Heavy Metal song by some band.
I'm an amateur, and I've done a pretty good job so far except for the tom sound.
When the drums are in solo, the tom sound is fine, but along with the bass and guitars, all you can hear is a tap or you can't hear them at all.
1. What can I do to make them be heard?
2. What EQ should I put to fit the Heavy Metal genre?

I recorded the toms (High tom, low tom, floor tom) using a dynamic microphone on each tom.

Get your ten posts here, so that you can post a link in the MP3 clinic. No way to give advice without hearing it.

:)

Hi there. You could try some complimentary EQ (slight cut in guitars/bass tracks at the same frequency you boost the tom fundamental) to bring out the tom sound.

Yeah I'd say the same as dags, bring down the guitars in the eq where you bring the toms up at. ie lower the mids in the guitars and raise the mids for the toms. not nessecsarily the mids though. Try different combos and see what works.
