Told You So

there comes a time where you have to scrap the mix. If the song is a good idea, start afresh. Might make all the difference.

I think you have 90% of the song done - you just need to redo the vocals....That crackle indicates you are clipping. Much better than the first version - good work so far.....

So scrap or not?

I honestly don't like the tone. I noticed that my weakness is recording metal type songs. It involves more technique I guess. What exactly did you not like Tele?

idol why do you think it's 90% done?

aahhh geez...

I think 90% done bcause you just need to redo the vocals then it will be 100%. I think you're doing fine with the mixing thing IMHO...

From what I gather, your finished mix will always be lower in volume than your standard CDs....you cant expect something you havnt sent to a mastering house to be as polished as a mainstream rock bands. If you're tracking as hot as you can just to boost the volume, then thats why you're getting a clip. You could also try using a limiter to stop those peaks. If you want to up the volume in the end, you could try normalizing the track...but this kinda takes away from the depth of your mix. You CANT ignore the clip if it occurs.

So in other words I NEED mastering software after the mix to get it at the right level?

Yeah I think so. Dont quote me, and wait for someone elses opinion.

Kill the verb, that just muddies everything up, yeah there are some timing issues, why not give the ears a rest, leave it alone for a few days and then give it a fresh listen, you will probably hear new or different things to do or change. You can't record and mix on the same day.

For this tune, ya have too much verb on it...sounds like it's all over the place...Maybe leave the verb on the solo guitar and take it off the main part and a bit off the vox....and drumz

Popin and crakkin....

Ill cut the verb and also mix it at the right level this time.

if you clipped on the way in, you wont be able to fix.

yea there is nothing i dan do about the vox

Well at least you can re-think it. Its far better to have something perfectly mixed and have your listener turn up their stereo.

looks like it's all been said...

pops on the vocal. could use a little more presence/high end.

too wet reverb. (on vox and some guitars)

drums are buried.

the breakdown around 2:45 has some timing issues.
