there comes a time where you have to scrap the mix. If the song is a good idea, start afresh. Might make all the difference.

So in other words I NEED mastering software after the mix to get it at the right level?TelePaul said:From what I gather, your finished mix will always be lower in volume than your standard CDs....you cant expect something you havnt sent to a mastering house to be as polished as a mainstream rock bands. If you're tracking as hot as you can just to boost the volume, then thats why you're getting a clip. You could also try using a limiter to stop those peaks. If you want to up the volume in the end, you could try normalizing the track...but this kinda takes away from the depth of your mix. You CANT ignore the clip if it occurs.
