I wrote this song when we were out playing last month. I sat down and recorded it at home today in about 5 hours. It sounds better when Mary sings it, hopefully I'll get her to do vocals in the next week or so and I'll fix it.

In advance...It's a Christian tune, so dont listen if you are offended by that.

Nice work... You're too good at this for me to try to offer anything other than a thumbs up, and a sincere request that you repost this when "the chick" sings it. I ask this not because there was anything wrong with your vocal (b/c there's certainly not anything wrong with it), I just refuse to believe that somebody who looks as good as she does can actually sing too.

p.s., I haven't spaced on the other tune...my daughter got braces, and she's having trouble singing...lol. I'm definitely wanting to take a crack at that one for fun.

Two nice songs. Listened to both of them. You guys are are better when she sings. Just fact of life. (I sing lousy so I'm not really one to be criticizing).

I'm the band coordinator in a large church ... and play every Sunday. I listen to tons of contemporary christian. For contemporary christian... the other song .... fly... works better for me. Heart of God is a good song and I like the lyrics..... but musically... I mean it's pretty plain except for the guitar licks at vocal line.... "miss the exit, miss the sign" ... and the 4 measures of whole notes where a bridge might be.

We copy contemporary christian every sunday. That one just didnt' do much for me.... but I liked Fly. A little more instrumentation and that song has some real potential.... in my humble opinion.

Please don't take anything I've said badly. You have a good sound, and you are talented musicians. And you're still young. Someday I'll be hearing you guys on KLOVE. I've got some friends who started with a much worse sound and their song "I Can Only Imagine" won last years dove award for best song. You can do that too.

Production wise, I agree it could use more elements......

Songwriting wise, it is good, but i like alot of your others better.....still, its on par with most of the stuff on CCM radio.......

thanks for the responses, guys.

I am researching on additional parts. We had been performing the song acoustically, with Mary singing me doing backup and playing guitar. So the arrangement is huge in comparison to that. But I will feel it out and put things in, along with her vocals. I may be able to add vocal elements at that time to liven things up. I think I'm going to skip out on the $ studio we use on this one, though. It is sounding good enough for me at home.
