"Hi, I'm in Delaware."
Did you know that they will tune your drums for you at no charge? He even threw in a moon gel, also at no charge. They sound way better than I ever managed to get them...

Maybe the people at your local GC aren't as nice as mine, but it's at least worth a shot if you suck at tuning.

Did you go to the one in Fredericksburg?? I used to go there til I moved to Austin. There were some in there who were very nice and not condescending. Not like the idiots at GC down here.

love Guitar Center...it's like a porn shop for sound geeks. (And you don't even need an ID to go in. hehehe...)

never asked them to tune a kit for me though.

I've gotten great ones and bozos in there...

Nope, the one in Fairfax. Some of the guys that I've seen there in the past aren't as nice, but most of the guys that I see there regularly are nice.

The actual drum shop where I bought my drums tuned them for me....its not something really that unheard of...I figured you'd always get your drums tuned unless you bought it from a ma and pa general music store that had a few sets.

Right, but I didn't buy my drums at GC. I got my heads there like a month ago, but I don't think they cared. I just thought it was nice that they would tune it with no particular incentive to do so.

In my experience, I know more about the stuff I'm looking at than the sales guys, but they can be easily talked into lowering prices. :D

That's true. Actually, when I just went to get a new delay pedal, I didn't do any research beforehand, but he looked up prices online for me so I would get it for cheaper. Most places make you bring in an ad, but apparently at GC they will just do everything for you.

I think Guitar Centers all get better the farther away you get from the Hollywood location.:(

It really depends. I go to the one in Manhattan on 14th st. and they are usually pretty cool. However I also frequent the one In East Brunswick NJ, and the guys there are very condescending for people who aren't very knowledgeable at all. It's hit or miss. I find myself going to GC when I want something and I don't want to wait for shipping. Also when I want try stuff out before I buy it cheaper online. Nothing is ever in tune, but that's ok. I don't mind giving a guitar a quick relative tune before playing it.

There's a Sam Ash near where I live that's a lot like that.

I went in to buy some sticks for a gig. Granted I walked in looking like a 40 year old Dad, but the guy behind the counter was acting like I was some shmo who was bothering him and knew nothing about drums. Never mind that he looked like a wanna be rock star (like I looked 15 years ago) and never mind that I could probably mop the floor with him, both in kicking his ass physically and also kicking his ass playing wise. He "allowed" me to select some sticks and even when the guy behind the counter he was with kept telling him "the guy is ready to pay" he kept on doing his own thing until I was about to yell at him to do his fucking job!!! I have no problem spending money in there, but its his job to take care of ME, not the other way around!!

I guess the job there was filling in until his "big break".
