Hello guys. I have my own home studio and cannot decide between the Mojave MA-200 and the Nuemann TLM-103. I have read numerous reviews and have been going through forums for days reading what people say. I am trying to make the right choice for recording Male and Female vocals (Rap/Hiphop/Acoustic/Pop) as well as some acoustic guitar.

I have read nothing but good things about the MA-200 and really want to try it but I know the 103 has been a fantastic selection for endless people.

I have a Focusrite Liquid Saffire pro 56.

Any Input, advice, experience or AUDIO SAMPLES would be awesome thanks guy!

If it were me ..... I wouldn't get the 103. I would get the 102.

I HAVE THE 103, DON'T BUY IT!!! It's not good value for money, really. I compared it to a Rode NT2 the other day and it wasn't much of a difference (exept for the price).

I don't know the Mojave MA-200, so I can't say anything about that.

There you go! At least audition the 102. like at GC.

And if it were me I would be giving the new CAD E100/S a serious listen. I think this will definitely be one of my next purchases. It is nothing like the old E100.....the new E100/S is a serious piece of kit !!

...first, let me say I trust David's (fiddler59) recommendations...the man knows his microphones...although I've not yet heard the CAD E100/S, I like many of CAD's products...

...from my own hands-on experience, I own an MA-200 and we had a TLM103 in our studio but sold it (my true feelings about the 103 is that if this mic did not have the "N" logo onit, no one would pay it much attention based on it's sound...did not like it)...the MA-200 is real nice BUT, if you're at all interested in saving some loot, but still getting the goods, I have to recommend the Stellar CM-6...at $350 it just has to be the best "out of the box" tube condenser mic under $1000...no joke...holds it's own with my beloved Rode Classic I...I try and refrain from spamming, but this mic really is this good...my clients love the way they sound on it!...anyway, worth a look:

...the CM-6 is currently sold out, but a new shipment is currently clearing customs...you can check availability at: www.stellarmics.com

I was going to suggest the Cad E-100S as well.(not the E-100E2)
I have several of the older E-100 which are a mid diaphram mic that works wonderfully on acoustic guitar and drums, but E-100S is a totally new and different animal.
It is a large diaphram condensor with the lowest noise floor I have ever seen.
It is not cheap though ,you will pay just under $600 for it.

The right mic always depends on who is singing into it, but if I had to reach for one of those without testing it would be the Mojave. Its a more exciting sounding mic to me.

I don't own either mic, but I have used both. The TLM103 gets little respect, but it can be great on the right source. I sat in on a session where it was used on a female vocal, and it sounded great. But... This girl would have sounded great with a tin can and string.

Overall, I think the MA200 is a better all around mic. It can be really good on a lot of things.

Sure, I got some good results to with my TLM 103. I'm not saying it's a bad mic.

It's just that you can buy two or three mics, who are just as good, for the same amount of money.

In the case of the 103 you're really only paying for a brand name.

True and as you can see on ebay and such people are selling off their 103 possibly in hopes to get a more all around purpose microphone.

...no disrespect Ronan, but you haven't heard the CM-6 yet...PM me if you want to arrange an audition, and I will link you with Peter at Stellar...you have to hear this mic...easily in the class of the Mojave at one-third the price...no joke!...
