Hey, I have a drum kit in my basement. I want to try and get the best sound from it, but no matter what I do, I get a really annoying room sound (obviously) and it sounds like I'm playing in a basement. Is there a way to eliminate some of that room noise?

Would playing drums in more a dead environment be benificial in this case? Since I cannot get a nice natural room sound, since I'm in such a bad room. Any suggestions on what makes drums sound better/worse?

It sounds like your getting some horrible accoustics. Try hanging blankets (or whatever) on the walls. Hang one in front of you and one on the left OR right, not both. You want some natural verb but the constant bouncing will conflict and make things sound really bad.

Also, put a piece of carpeting under your set if you haven't.

If you're in a basement, you're probably going to need bass trapping - LOTS of it.

Blankets, carpet, etc., are going to destroy what little high end your'e getting now and leave the low end (which is where the real problem is) alone.

Hey, sounds good. I am getting horrible acoustics.

So I want to hang something in front of me, and to my left (or right), not behind me, and on the opposite side?

Yes, it will help but as they stated above, it's going to kill some of your high. Is this for recording or jamming.....or both? You'll need serious eq while recording.
