tip for mixing other tracks with processed drumloop?

when i use drumloop it's very hard to mix other tracks to it
cos drumloop a;ways been processed very much like
heavy reverb then gated and compressed...
i wonder how other approach this mixing style?

I take the approach of changing the things I don't like, and leaving the rest alone. I know that sounds simplistic, but the philosophy seems to work for me. After I get the other tracks in place, I modify the loops and import the changes to my project. Sometimes I'm lucky right off, sometimes it's a series of trial and error. I've started to get a better feel for what to do (and what not to do). Practice and experimentation go a long way.
