TImo Maas Kick and Snare

Hi guys,

I am absolutely in love with the latest Timo Maas album (the one that was released about a year ago). Now I really dig the kick that he obtained in most of the songs on this LP. It is very punchy and clear, yet no mud in it. Can anyone tell me how to obtain such a sound? Any compressor settings? Other tricks ?

Same applies to his snares- in Your face cutting through sound. Any thoughts ?

I have not heard his latest album. Are the drums acoustic ?

Alot of that stuff is done on drum machines. LOUD (the album of his that I have) sounds like Roland 909. Those are pretty much what all of those hard dance guys used back then.
