OK guys, I really having trouble coming to grips with this.

I have some free recorded sessions of guitars, vocals and bass that were recorded without a click. At the moment it's just for kicks but I'm gonna want to do this for real at some stage. I want to add some midi drums to it. The timing varies slightly but I figure that the bass track has nice discrete sounds that can be used to find my "hitpoints" for the timing of the midi track.

So, is there a tutorial floating around to show me how to use the hitpoints that I manually (or automatically) put in on the bass track for the midi track?

I've played around with editing hitpoints on the bass track, I can calculate a groove quantisize (which I understand even less), but I just can't quite get my head around how to put it all together and get what I need. I have the distinct feeling that I'm completely missing something fairly simple.
