Folks,

I have a nice nVidia nForce Mobo which has served me well for two years. It is time to upgrade. I was thinking of switching to Intel and I was wondering if any of you had experience running the following equipment / software on an Intel platform:

Nuendo
Cubase SX
RME HDSP card
UAD-1 DSP card

Any recomendations of a Mobo would be very helpful,

TIA
Jonathan

ASUS is the only boards I use. Highly recommended.

Which ASUS model? Which Chipset is best these days? I know in the past VIA was to be avoided at all costs.

I'm using an ASUS P4P800 Deluxe that I just put together last week, and it's working great--can't recommend this mobo enough!
It uses an Intel 865PE chipset, and I've got a P4 2.4c CPU overclocked to 3 GHz and this thing is rock steady and stable.

Check into it, you'll like it.

Just be sure to do research on memory- there's some compatibility issues on certain sticks from what I've read.

neil, where did you get your memory (and mobo, for that matter)? I was looking at this same motherboard and I'm thinking about going with 1st choice memory because they have a compatibility guaranty. What kind of cooling are you using to overclock to 3G?

Damn, Morton Grove? That's not too far from me.

Anyway, I highly recommend Newegg.com, good prices, good service, and the stuff always shows up in one piece. :D

My video workstation uses dual overclocked AMD 2200+s and is water cooled.

nForce (AMD) or Intel (Intel) is the way to go for chipsets.

No VIA. Too much history of too many bugs and problems.

:D

I build AMD machines for my business clients, and Intel powered boxes for my gaming clients.

I only use Abit boards with Intel Chipsets. Try the BE7-RAID. Handles a P4 533MHz FSB, onboard RAID, and up to 2 Gigs of DDR333 RAM.

Whoops! My profile was so outdated! I moved to CO 3 years ago
Thanks for the recommendation, btw.
