Is there any difference between a $50 and a $30 thumb drive? Looking at ebay, it seems there are 4GB drives within that range. Will I be screwed by the cheaper one somehow?

Also 4GB should give me enough space to transport a few songs-worth of raw files from one location to another, right?

Or, is there a better way to move files quickly and easily from one machine to another that I'm overlooking?

That's probably the quickest and easiest.
The price difference (if the MB is the same) will usually reflect the speed of the flash RAM used in the device.

Your other option is an external Hard Drive if you want to have plenty of space also useful for backing up your main workstation. I know in Ireland anyway you can get a 250g external HDD for about 100-150 euro. So in the US it's probably cheaper again...

OK, I looked into that for about 1 minute. It appears that it works similarly to a flash drive - USB plug and play-able. the only real difference is the size and you have to plug it in (power cord and AC adapter). Am I correct in my observations? I found some 60GB external HDs for $50. That seems like a better deal than a 4 GB thumbdrive for the same money.
