Thoughts on new song - 80's new wave

I love the 80's sound and this has it in spades. In terms of production and execution I can't hear anything wrong other than the abrupt end and for me the snare is a bit too loud (we know its a big 80's snare!)

From a songwriting point of view I think this is an album track that, with a better chorus, could be a great single. Think "It's My Life" by Talk Talk and you're half way there!

Thanks for the comments, I really appreciate you feedback and agree completely. I'm not sure what got into me with this track, but the comparison to Talk Talk is pretty spot on, haha.

I will definitely fade off the end of the track and see what I can do about the chorus.

Thanks again

Really like the song. The mix sounds perfect to me on my speakers. Snare could maybe be turned down a bit.

Im working in Logic as well, and I was wondering if you're using any other plug ins that you've bought, or any mastering etc? Sounds so clean and nice.

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. How are you liking Logic so far?

I wasn't really using any crazy plug-ins here. Since getting back into recording, I've really found that the EQ can be your best friend when it comes to making vocals sound clear. My voice is pretty airy at times, so I have to boost the treble in order to really have my voice come out of the mix. Compression also helps a lot.

If you are looking for some plugins, I would suggest checking out this blog: http://www.synthtopia.com

They cover a lot of different types of electronic music, but from time to time they post of a bunch of different free plugins that are worth looking at.

Post up something you've done and I will have a listen.

Wow. I know 80's, I hate 80's and this is definitely 80's :laughings:

Seriously though, I'm not at all a fan of the 80's style of music, but there are albums from that decade and that style that I like. Your track reminds me of The Blue Nile, and they're one of the few artists from that era that I genuinely enjoy, so good job with this.

The only problem I have with the mix is that around 3/4 into the track, there's a low-frequency synthy sound that comes in and it feels a bit too overpowering. My inside of my headphones were rattling ever so slightly from that and I'm not sure if it caused some clipping.

Otherwise, excellent.

Nice 80's feel. I agree with the lo freq. synth comment. Other than that, sounds pretty good to me. Reminds me of Wang Chung a little bit.

I liked it too. Very '80's and I like much of the music from then as that's what was popular when I was in my 20's.

I'm hearing some noise in the right channel about a minute into the song that I've never heard on these speakers. Don't know who's end it's on though.

Very nice mix and production.

Reminds me of Tears for Fears with some new age atmospheric stuff thrown in.Definately an 80's vibe going on but i liked it.I thought the overall recording was pretty good but needed some bottom end to balance out the mix.
