This is one of ten for my band's self recorded demo. I can't believe how much different it sounds through my computer headphones than on my monitors! Anyway, fire away on it. The song is called "Change".

Hey Mica, good tune. Overall sounds like the mix could use more punch to it. The instruments sound a bit distant in comparison to the vocals. Sounds like there's some midranges you could mess with in an equalizer that'll probably liven up the mix a bit. Or maybe mess around with some compression and see how it sounds. Really cool section around 3:30. Yeah good tune, just sounds like it needs mix work. Cheers :)

Hey,

I took some notes as I listened...

Guitar buzz in R channel at the start is distracting
Bass could possibly use some more hi-end
Interesting vocal sound... probably slightly too loud for my liking
Drums too distant; hard to comment about the sound of them since they're far too quiet in general
Could possibly use more layering in the chorus
Needs more punch in general
I'd pan the arpeggio style guitar in the verses L or something... the mix feels a bit dominated by the guitar in the right..

Very cool song by the way. Hard to make any more comments about the mix seeing as it's being streamed in terrible quality thanks to myspace.. could you post a better quality mp3?

Thanks, guys

Thanks a bunch for the input, everybody. I really appreciate it. I have ten songs to mix including this one, so the feedback is priceless. As I move through them, I'll put them up.

I agree that the drums do need a lot more punch and some panning and vocal layering in the chorus is needed. What would you guys use to achieve a punchier drum? A limiter on the overheads and kick?

Peace ~

Mica
