I have thought of getting the 775 and I had just saw the 800 something or other. My question;

1) Are you able to PAUSE the CDR while recording. ( This would allow me to switch out my ZIP100 disk. If I were able to do this would I be able to play that disk on other players?...... I know about CD-RW and CD-R. If I am not mistaken that 775 is a DUAL deck. Would I be able to build a CD on a CDRW and then record it to a playable CD???? Using the same machine. NOOOO Computers. Nothing but this an that.

Ok Baldy 100 meg disk regular 840 or a br-8?
Anyways. I own the Cdr 870 single deck. I believe that this model is the first one that Phillips released that was affordable.
As long as you are playing by the book and are using the Audio Cdr's that you are supposed to use you can stop a disk in between songs/tracks and take it out and wait 6 months before you add to it.

It will play perfect on the phillips machine but it will not play on any conventional cd player until the disk has been finalized.

IF I were you I would look into a used one I picked mine up for 200 bucks and it works perfect. Alot of people buy these and then end up going the computer route and this thing sets in their rack and collects dust (yes you can get rack ears for the phillips machines).

I hope that I have helped. If you would like you could always drive to Jax one day and I will give you a tour of what they do and do not do.

Thanx Bro,
Are you able to finalize that disc on that machine you have? After finalization, that allows you to play on other machines.
I drive thru JAX about once a month.
I need to get on I- 10 on my way to Texas. Some of my family still live there. Trying hard to get them all here at once.
I am about to order the Philips CDR simply because the Budget calls for it. In order to get the LEVELS right , in your experience, how many times did you mess up? Is there monitor levels on it? Input levels? Output Levels? Does it only record RED BOOK? 44.1 yada yada.
Hows it sound?? Same as the original? Are the levels lower than you had expected? Do you have to really boost the output of the BR* or what ever you have in order to get the right levels? Does it make coffee?
