well Im writting this for all the people that have commented on my "TONE" and guitar playing here at this BBS. I want to thank all for your input and critques as we all strive to reach that ever elusive record contract. Now onto some serious babble.

Where should I start? hrmm... I have owned so many pieces of equipment for guitar that I know I have made Sam Ash rich! Why he hasnt had me over for dinner I just dont know, I guess Im not on the A-list. If I had to start over again I would use the following, a compression pedal, and overdrive pedal, para eq, a flange/chorus and of course delay. They dont make reverb pedals so Ill have to deal. Thing is this set up isnt different from what I use now, save the reverb and sonic maximizer. I realize now that if you really want that killer sound LIVE and in the studio, your going to have to spend the cash. Rack mounted equipment is the best investment, oh sure its heavy and bulky and just a plain old pain in the ass to lug to around, but isnt your sound worth all that? I have a 6 space SKB rack. In it are only 4 pieces of equipment. A furman power conditioner for my safety and my equipments, Roland GP-100 guitar Preamp & processor, BBE Sonic Maximizer 462, and a Peavey PV-500 Professional stereo Power amplifier 250watts x2. As you can see, I really have a solid ground to stand on either LIVE or in the studio. This is important cause what you HAVE is what you GET. In my next post Im going to get into how the Roland GP-100 works and how this can relate to anyone using either Foot pedals or Pods, or other Preamp/effects processors..... thanks for reading my babble...more to come.

Looking forward to your GP-100 post since I own one and like it quite a bit.

Everybody has there own spin on tone, and that's cool, but for me I would rather plug straight in to my Rivera any day than 10 racks worth of gobbledy-gook.

GASP! A DISBELIEVER !! !

Actually If someone said I had to get rid of my rack for just an amp, it would have to be MESA BOOGIE. Although I have never played a Rivera, I do like the tones on Sovtech, and fenders as well. I once owned an ADA twin tube 200... good god that amp had some sweet ass tones, sadly it got juiced and ADA is nowhere to be found for repairs. I love the sound of straight amplification, but I hope your not one of those guys that think your some how better then others who use effects. To each his/her own and if I seem like Im saying "THIS IS THE END ALL, YOU HAVE TO DO THIS" Im sorry, I really dont mean to. Im just saying what has been working for me since 1995. I have used the same set up since then for both LIVE and studio recordings, and Im finally happy. Some People really like my sound and I want to share with them what it is I do and how I get that sound. Not everyone will be interested Im sure...some will. Its all good!

hey phyl!

I will be posting my exact settings for some really awesome guitar sounds here for GP-100 owners. I would love for anyone to join in and post thier settings! this can be fun.
