This kick sound

Isn't the common technique to layer an 808 bass note into the kick? In the first song especially, the kick sounds more tuned and melodic than a standard kick.

I'd also do some research into drum EQ. You can do a surprising amount of shaping of a drum's tone with EQ.
 
I would try this . Take a separate bus of the kick and significantly compress it after using an eq to boost the lower and high range . This will really pump it up . Ive just learned this technique myself and has really helped my mixes . Parallel compression . The secret is to not be shy on the eq . Boost it real high below 150 to 200 k and anything above 8 k . Slowly blend this in with the mix and find where it helps the most .
 
Hmm i'll really have to try again. I did try and layer a simple sine wave with each kick but i didnt get the result i wanted... I'll do try toying with some eq more, thanks for the help guys
