So. When you guys "joined" this board, had you all been n00bs, so to speak, or did you come to just try to pick up a few tricks. Just curious..

I actually can't remember too well. I know I read for a while before I signed up, but I can't remember exactly when. I was fairly green, I had done 4 track analog for about 4 years, and got my first PC setup in 2000, I think it was about 2001 when I hooked up with this board. I had been reading the Prorec.com boards back when that site was still maintained, and I had read Huber's book "Modern Recording Techniques". So I was one step above newbie, but only one step :)

I wish there was an easy way to read my early posts, they are probably pretty embarassing :o But I don't think the search menu works too well for that.

I think of it as "networking" and it gives me something positive to do (usually postive, anyway) while I'm working.

I had been recording for years on reel to reel, but knew nothing about computer recording.I wanted to get into that, and build a computer to record on.I accomplished this just in time before the Cave sucked me in and stole my soul!

I just read for about a year.
Then I joined and saw the cave. All went down hill after that.

I still do more reading than posting. Still in the learning phase.

Learning and enjoyment in an area that is about a huge chunk of what I'm about. And helping. A good feeling when it happens but also it clarifies your understanding of something to have to communicate it.

Plus, you get to find out where you're full of shit too. :p :D
