I just got a chance to do some recordings with the Behringer V-amp II.

I am simply beside myself at how cool something could possibly be for $130. It makes the POD look like a crackerjack / cereal box toy next to an off-the-shelf FAO Schwartz. I have a newfound love and respect for the mighty-B. Long live Behringer!

Really ? I've played lots of modelers in the stores, usually monitoring through headphones. The V-Amp sounded so bad to me.....I guess I'll have to give it another listen. I've heard good things about it, so I won't totally reject it after one listen.

I haven't listened to the Digitech Genesis 3 yet because it's headphone jack uses a small plug and the stores don't have headphones that will work with it. How lame is that ? They've probably lost sales because of that.

Wide Awake, I thought most GOOD headphones do have a 1/8" plug, and a 1/4" adapter for it. My Sennheiser HD 265 Lineair has. and I love those cans... 10Hz-25000Hz...

But eh, my quibble with the POD is, that most presets are set to impress in the store, but aren't that useful for recording. I have a Boss GT-3 myself, and I have tweaked it very decently, so now I can get great sounds out of it.
I may give the V-Amp II a spin too. It IS cheap!

I have to second the V-amp.. I bought one.. and it just really sounds great to me. I distortions are good, and there are a hell of a lot of combinations with it. It was "very" noisy when I had it on the desk near my computer monitor and my speakers, but I moved it across the room and set it on top of a fender chorus amp and tried recording it through the amp.. all the buzz went away and its totally awesome. Its certainly one of the best toys I have bought lately.. and for that price you can't lose.

I recently bought 2 V-Amp 2 preamps. One for me and one for Jeff, our other guitarist. I love mine and I am using it on the recording of our CD. Jeff, a Fender tube amp junkie I believe is affraid of his. He uses it for home practice and likes it for that, but so far, he hasn't been able to bring himself to use it for recording even though he knows mine sounds great. Affraid of technology? I think so. LOL

Anyway; I think the V-AMP 2 is an outstanding tool and a fantastic bargain. After hearing it through our monitor system recently, I'm going to use it "Live" for small venues too.

Actually Chess. You have just proven my point. $130 is actually three numbers and a symbol. Thanks though. An oh yeah. I have heard some good thing sout of the V-amps. Especially for 130.00

I borrow a friend's V-amp1 regularly to record with. I think the sounds are very useable. My only gripe with it is the constant hiss (not the pick-up hum). Like a noise floor thing. It's there whether there's a guitar plugged into it or not and doesn't matter what cabinet or amp you have selected. It just goes up and down with the master volume. Generally in a recording situation you can keep the master low enough that the hiss is barely noticeable, but when I tried to use it live, I had to drive it harder and the hiss drove me insane

Question to anyone who has used both version 1 and 2...... The sales pitch for the V-amp2 says it has quieter circuitry. does this mean that the hiss is reduced or eliminated?? If this is the case I'll definately buy one.

Mine is very quiet and has a very effective noise gate for the high gain sounds.

I don't know if the V-Amp 1 has it, but many of the models on the V-2 have the Drive function on by default and turning this off eleminates many of the noise issues.

The noise gate doesn't affect the hiss. It's the noise floor of the thing. Maybe it has a problem with the 240v power here in Australia?. Who knows

The band just finished the basic tracks for our CD last night and my V-AMP2 did an excellent job.

After we finished up, I ran the V-AMP2 through the monitor system (LOUD) and it was simply awesome doing the Marshall JCM-800 thing. The Best 130 bux I have ever spent.

I recently bought one of these and had a quick skim of the manual. It seems like a complicated tool to scroll through presets etc. Granted my "quick skim" involved all of 7 seconds, but is it relatively easy to program, tweak and recall settings?

Also, would anyone recommend using this live with an acoustic guitar, if nothing for a little EQ on the thin pickup?
