An exclusive interview with Dogman

This was recently done by the coolest interview dude ever.

Interview dude: Dogman, thanks for sitting down and talking with us. Let's cut right to the chase....What are your thoughts on that loveable, doe-eyed creature known as christian?

Dogman: Well, dude, at first I wasn't sure about him, but then I noticed his awesome skills at listening to music, and putting his thoughts into words. I mean, c'mon, dude, we both listened to music by Supercreep and Incanus, and man, he was spot on. They sound exactly like Pearl Jam. At first, I didn't notice this, but after some prodding by christian I realized how true this was. After his review of them, I had the ditinct impression that we listened to 2 different bands, so man, I must have been wrong.

Dude: and now, to the question of Manager/lawyer, Ted Phillips....

Dogman: Oh, dude, that guy just blows me away. His use of the legal terms such as libel, and slander....geez, makes all my legal schooling and training seem for naught. After being shown the ropes by them, I humbly bow down and admit I know nothing. I threw all my books out the window, and will now find a new profession.

Dude; and now, how do you feel about the vicious onslaght brought down upon your friend, TimboZ?

Dogman: Well dude, I feel for litle Timmy, and it must suck to be powerless like that, but TimboZ is a fighter, and I'm sure he'll make a comeback somehow. It must suck to have had the Smackdown laid on your ass, like happened to TimboZ, but I guess that is what he gets for sounding just like Pearl Jam. Sorry TimboZ, give me a call. We'll do lunch sometime.

Dude: well that's all the time we have for now, so thanks everyone for listening.

I got a positive rep point from somebody claiming to be mystery. The note says "positive so I can neg".

We've got a liar, plagarist, and cheat all rolled up in one attractive package - what's not to like?

I will use a track that TimboZ submitted to anylise the mix.
TimboZ should learn first how to mix a tune to sound like the band/group was performing for an audience in concert. To accomplish this, the mixer must be able to place the instrument with a front/back as well as left/right perspective. The engineer must also be able to overcome masking with equalization, so all instruments can be clearly heard.

The term "static mix" means that the best mix that can be obtained with no controls moving. This type of mix is the basis for monitor and cue mixing during recording & overdubbing. This type of mix is the starting point for a final mixdown.

The instruments should be balanced as to function. By that it is meant than an even balance of all rhythm instruments is obtained which neither accents or disfavors any particular instrument. The lead vocals and instruments should be louder and more present in the mix With this kind of balance, the producer can decide which parts may have to be redone in recording and which instruments to accent, and at what times, in the final mixdown.
The recording engineer would normally obtain this type of mix within 2-3 passes of the tune and then look to the producer for further instructions as to preference. When recording and mixing, the engineer is trying to give the producer what the producer wants. What the engineer likes or dislikes is irrelevant at this point. After the starting point is reached with the performance static mix, communication can begin among all those who have creative input into the mix.
The room or environment aspect of the mix should be natural and minimized at this point in the process. This allows the instruments to be heard and for additional reverberation and effects to be carefully chosen and adjusted for the final mix.

The Mystery...Revealed

I just banned Mystery Records for posting a nasty spam in the SAS Forum, of all places, and then checked out and banned his IP address.

You will therefore not be hearing more from him, Christian, and one or two other minor aliases :-)

I am now closing this thread reluctantly (because I thought it was hucking filarious).
