Thinking of getting a Parker P42

any thoughts? i don't have a lot of money to spend on any more gear lol, but should be getting around a $450ish tax return back within the month. I love Parkers, but i don't have 3 grand to blow on a Nitefly! i've found some for around $419, and now the P42 comes in a few color choices (other than the just gray and black), and i'm looking at a lime gold type color. Anyone have any experience with these? Two Parker Stinger humbuckers, coil-tap pushpull pot, 3way selector, non-trem bridge. idk, they get rave reviews, and people say even these lower end models play smooth as butter. So, i'm really considering it! any thoughts?

I can't speak about the P42.

I've been playing a Fly for 10 years. I got the gold top color. It really photographs well. When all the other black and sunburst guitars fade into the background, the gold top really shines.

The P42 looks just like my fly.

I recommend Parker. Try one.

thanks! i wish, WISH, i could afford the fly, or nitefly or any of those. i love the features, but i just don't have that much money to blow on the guitar right now. but $420 with free shipping and no tax sounds pretty sweet to me, and I'm thinking of getting a DiMarzio Super Distortion and putting it in the bridge to replace the stock Parker Stinger pickups. I'm pumped!

So, I just got an AMAZING deal on e-bay. There was a Parker P42Pro used for even less than the brand new regular P42. The pro came in different colors, along with Seymour Duncan JB/Jazz pickups in it, instead of the stock Parker pickups. Got it for a steal; $345 with shipping. It's white, with a maple neck.

Here's the thing: I can't find ANY information on Parker P42 Pro's! THere's NOTHING out there! Does anybody have any insight? As in, when were they made, what the exact differences might be (besides color and pickups?) and why they aren't made anymore? hmm...

The Pro has upgraded - locking tuners and the pups you mentioned. Also has the piezo saddle, Fishman stereo preamp.

ahh, see, that's what i thought at first, too. but that's the P-44 Pro. The 42 is a model below it. I don't think I get the locking tuners, or the piezo but that's okay. That's for one day when I become rich and buy a $4000 Fly lol
