Well, how long is a piece of string?

*Monitors
*soundcard
*mics


That is a pretty good start. Once you get started you discover you need so many things that you never even knew existed.

As long as you make it ;-).

I have a maya 100 sound card. As for the monitors and mics, that's not really hardware specific as software is to a soundcard.
 
That reminds me.... does SX3 require a USB key to make it run?

Yes. Practically all steiberg software uses a dongle (u can have multiple program licences on one dongle though)
 
You can run cubase with almost anything. it's all about what u need or require. atleast, start out by getting a good audio interface with 0 latency. the list never ends.
