Things on a compressor

mak esure you inlarge that picture so you can see everything
 
The first two knobs control the gate. on this unit, it is more of an expander. As the signal approaches the threshold, the attenuater opens up at a set ratio to the signal.

This is going to be a lot of typing, what do you know already? Do you know about threahold, release, attack and release?

what do things like attack ratio threshold and all the knobs

how do i know what to adjust things to according to what im recording
 
That is about a 5 page article to cover that much ground. Try the tweakheads tutorial. It will cover all of this much better than anyone will take the time to here.

lol alright thanks far youve been a huge help in the last week or so of my RAPID FIRE questions
 
tweak really has some nice info...

and yes it could turn into a five pager just getting into this sort of thing....
